What Is System Restore Point


System Restore in windows is kinda like a backup tool which takes snapshots of your windows system in a known good state. These snapshots are called as system restore points, and they can be used to roll back to known good state in the event of system failure or corruption. Actually system restore points in windows are automatically created in the event of major software installation/uninstallation and windows updates.

Create A System Restore Point In Windows 8


Getting started, Press WIN + X to open the power menu and select ‘System’ from the list of options. This action will open up ‘System’ window, here click on the ‘System Protection’ link on the right sidebar.


This action will open ‘System Properties’ window, here click on ‘Create’ button next to Create a restore point right now for the drives that have system protection turned on. By default, System protection is turned on for your windows installation drive [formally known as C drive], so no worries.


Here you have to enter some description so that you can identify the restore point in future. After entering the description, click on ‘Create’ button.


If everything goes well, you’ll receive a message saying that you’ve successfully created a system restore point in windows.
